      <title>Migrants' children in the UN Recommendations for Children Rights</title>
      <description>20 years after the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Committee has developed a set of Recommendations for Children Rights for Romania.In section Family affected by migration  "the Committee notes that some programs were implemented and that a law proposal was drafted in order to improve mechanisms for identifying and monitoring children left behind by parents who left to work abroad, but it looks worried about the high number of those children who continue to be at risk.The Committee recommends that the State Party initiates national campaigns to inform potential migrants about child protection measures available and improve the measures for identification and support of children left behind by migrant parents."

      <title>Over 350.000 children in Romania grow up without the support of one or both parents gone to work abroad</title>
      <description>
Over 350.000 children in Romania grow up without the support of one or both parents gone to work abroad. Half of these children are not yet 10 years old.UniCredit Tiriac Bank, Unidea Foundation and Alternative Sociale Association is inviting you to the press conference announcing the launching of the project &#8220;MIGRATIONS &#8211; Combating the negative effects of migration amongst children and elderly persons remaining at home&#8221; that will be developed during 2009-2011.The meeting of the media with representatives of institutions involved in the project will take place on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 at 11:00 hrs. at UniCredit Pavilion situated in Sos. Nicolae Titulescu no. 1 (Victoria Square are), Bucharest.The project brings to the attention of civil society and authorities the situation of children and elderly persons in Romania - in general - and in Iasi County - in particular -, persons left alone as result of labor migration. With this approach we try to find solutions that would diminish the impact of the migration phenomenon upon most vulnerable categories of persons in a country area that is seriously affected in this way. At the event will take part representatives of the National Authority for Child Protection, of Alternative Sociale Association that is implementing this program, of Unidea Foundation in Italy, funding the project, and of UniCredit Tiriac Bank, coordinator of the Mogrations Program in Romania.
